The Universal Martial Arts Institute (UMI) was founded in 1989 by Grandmaster Ik Hwan Kim. It is made up of two divisions: Universal Taekwondo Federation (UTF) and Universal Hapkido Federation (UHF).

 

Weapon Training

Our organization provides all forms of weapon training, particularly Song Jul Kwon (Nunchaku), Don Buong (short stick), Jong Buong (Bo Staff), Don Jong (cane), Jook Do (bamboo sword), Jin Gum (real sword), Don Do (knife) and baton (PR-24 for police). This is a unique opportunity, as most schools only have limited weapon curriculum. Any form of martial arts can be adapted to our type of training. UMI students are always interested and eager to learn many new and challenging levels of weapon training.
